Creator takes a database approach to test creation. Test items are assigned to categories to facilitate updating. Questions and/or categories are then assigned to learning objectives. Learning objectives are then assigned to tests. This approach allows test items, categories, and objectives to be used in multiple tests without re-entry.

Creator's features and capabilities include:

  • Importing text and graphics in most formats, and checking spelling.

  • Developing fully customized tests in a just-in-time mode. Test descriptions, instructions, randomization of questions/answers, time limits, number of attempts allowed, scoring, feedback, hints for further study, training recommendations, and online payment for the test (if desired) are totally configurable at the time each test is created.

  • Configuring how a test is deployed, allowing customers to control who may take specific tests and when (see Administrative.)

  • Online Previewer, a component of Creator that can be used directly by the customer, provides an easy tool to preview the contents of a test. It is a "read-only" preview showing question/answers, database ID, and correct answer.

  • Access to participant records is available to customers through Active Server Pages (ASP), providing thorough information on each test taken.

  • Many question types, including True/False, Multiple Choice, Matching, Short Answer (looks for keywords and/or strings), Multiple Label (a graphic is shown with up to 8 hot spots to identify), Ranking, and Fill-in-the-Blank.

  • Positive and negative feedback can be provided for individual questions, learning objectives, and tests.

  • Allows for training/study recommendations at both the objective and test levels as part of participant feedback. Online ordering and fulfillment of study materials are also available from the results page.
