TesTrac.com Launches New Collaboration Tool
Burnsville, Minn. – TesTrac.com, Ltd, a world leader in online testing, announces a release date for its game-changing Item Collaborative Tool (ICT), expected to go live August 2016. The new tool is the only one of its kind that can manage test item creation for state issuing boards, which use licensing standards that can vary by state according to each state's law. The ICT integrates perfectly with TesTrac Online, TesTrac.com's state-of-the-art full-service online testing engine, and offers a robust set of project management tools.
The new collaborative tool gives clients enhanced ways to create and review test items. The ICT sorts users by domains so that subject matter experts only create test items within their area of expertise. A test development committee has the ability to create teams to develop test items, build project schedules, assign tasks, set up email notifications for tasks upcoming or missed and track progress. As the test items themselves are created, the ICT allows for version control, test item review and commenting and the ability to attach the reference materials that were used to write the test items. Domain experts can review test items, but only within their area of expertise, an important aspect of implementing the Angoff method of rating test questions and establishing minimum cut scores, or what level of performance can be expected by competent test candidates. After tests are launched, psychometric and reporting data for each test item is easy for clients and experts to review, including live access on test attempts.
“This is a unique, web-based item development tool,” says TesTrac.com president Doug Odell. “We're giving clients, including state boards and agencies, the tools to easily manage their test development, evaluation and scoring.” The tool also appears to have no peer in the testing industry. Doug Odell explains, “Nobody else that I know of is offering anything like this.” The ICT is expected to have a large impact on the testing industry, setting a new standard for item development and project management tools available to both private and public clients.
As with all of TesTrac.com's product innovations, the ICT operates fully within the TesTrac Online environment, creating a seamless process for clients as they build and launch tests. “You can set different levels of difficulty for each test item,” explains Doug Odell. “Then you can precisely target the test difficulty level you want for a particular exam.” After test development is complete, launching the test remains a simple pushbutton operation. “It's a smooth and easy process for our clients, from start to finish,” says Doug Odell.
